I love to do things to see what happens. Thus breaking rules along the way.
I want my hand to be seen in my work. Each piece is unique and has an organic quality, reminding me of the perfectly imperfect shapes I find in nature that i love so much. To me the imperfections make the pieces more interesting. I feel that there is a level of sincerity and human-ness in this.
I often start with a random piece of silver copper or brass and manipulate it with a texture: heating hammering, etching, pitting, piercing, scratching, folding or forming to give the piece a feeling of history. I may then put it together with another piece layering and laminating in various ways, discovering different compositions of unforseen possibilities and connections.
I am always striving to push my boundries by taking creative risks.
To me my designs imbue a contemporary, old world and natural or organic quality simultaneously. I'm always seeking unexpected opportunities and fresh moments to explore.
